Abstract: The study examined the effect of external capital flows on multidimensional poverty level in Nigeria. The annual time series data used in the study comprised of poverty rate (POV), inward external capital flows (IRT), outward external capital flows (ORT), official development assistance (ODA), and technical cooperation grants (TCG).The Auto regressive distribute lag (ARDL) analytical techniques was used in the model estimation. The study found that the variables of external capital flows (IRT, ORT, ODA, and, TCG) significantly influenced poverty rate in Nigeria in the short run. However, in the long run amongst the independent variables, only ODA exerted long run influence on poverty rate in Nigeria within the evaluation period. To this end, the study recommends that measures to attract and sustain the inflow of external capital flows should be put in place by the Nigerian government.
